DESCRIPTION:Join Sol Axé for the All Souls Procession! Come and be part of the ALA (wing) WORKSHOP with SOL AXE! For years\, the rear of the Procession has been anchored by Brazilian drums\, dancing\, and great joyous energy. Join Sol Axé to become part of that joyous crew! Open to all!  \nYou will learn rhythms (if drumming) and movement (if dancing) that will take us through the entire Procession. You will be part of one of Tucson’s largest community events\, viewed by thousands of people. \nSOL AXÉ is a project under the organization that creates the All Souls Procession\, MANY MOUTHS\, ONE STOMACH. A portion of ALL PROCEEDS from SOL AXE go directly to our parent group. \nRehearsals begin on Tuesday\, October 13th and will continue through Tuesday November 3rd in preparation for the Procession . \nWe will also have an opportunity to participate in a community neighborhood performance on Halloween! \nCost is $40 for ALL FOUR SESSIONS and includes instruction (both drum and dance)\, use of instrument\, t-shirt\, AND access to SUNDAY DANCE CLASS with LIVE DRUMMING during the the ALA WORKSHOP! \nTuesdays: Oct 13\, 20\, 27\, Nov 3rd for community group rehearsals. \n(Sunday dance classes available during workshops: Oct 18\, 25\, Nov 1st)

SUMMARY:Ambassador First Rehearsal
DESCRIPTION:Ambassadors are part of the Community Spirit Group. They are the outreach group that passes out paper and pencils and explains to people along the street that they can write messages and prayers for the Urn. Responsible for creating simple costume. Requires a lot of walking and standing\, though we may be able to identify a role for people who have more limited walking capacity. \nIf you are interested in joining this group\, please fill out the Volunteer Application and check Ambassador. Rehearsal location will be communicated at that time. \nTime Commitment \n\nThursdays\, 7-9PM\, October 15\, 22\, and 29\nTuesday\, 7-9PM\, November 3\nPlus costuming workshops TBD\, Finale Rehearsal TBD\, and a Procession walk-through TBD (probably Wednesday Nov 4)\nAmbassadors are responsible for creating a costume within the basic group guidelines. We will probably hold some sessions earlier in Oct to talk about costuming and get started for those who are interested.\n\nAll members of the Community Spirit Group gather together day-of the Procession to prep\, help each other with costumes and makeup\, eat\, and prepare ourselves for the work ahead. We don’t yet know where that home base is this year\, but wherever it is\, Attendants\, Ambassadors\, Ushers\, and Hungry Ghosts will all be there! Expect that the Ambassadors will gather starting as early as 11 AM\, and Ushers as early as 1 PM — and then of course go until the end of the Finale at about 10 PM.

The Haunted Ruins is a Tucson tradition and has been enchanting Tucsonans every October for 40 years! This year we have a special tale in store for you and your family about a young witch with a lot to learn about the difference between good and evil. \nThe Haunted Ruins is our biggest fundraiser of the year and is the BEST way to visit Valley of the Moon for the first time or the hundredth. Come experience real magic in Tucson’s enchanted heart! Come in costume for an extra special good time! \nThe Haunted Ruins is a 35-40 minute walking theatrical adventure through Valley of the Moon. It is appropriate for all ages. If you have special needs please feel free to get in touch to make arrangements. We want to see you there! \nPRICE: Kids 15 and under are FREE. $10 for 16 years and up. \nDATES: October 9\, 10\, 11\, 16\, 17*\, 18\, 23\, 24\, 25\, 28\, 29\, 30 \nTIMES: Adventures every 20 minutes from 6:00 PM to 8:20 PM. DESCRIPTION:Join Sol Axé for the All Souls Procession! Come and be part of the ALA (wing) WORKSHOP with SOL AXE! For years\, the rear of the Procession has been anchored by Brazilian drums\, dancing\, and great joyous energy. Join Sol Axé to become part of that joyous crew! Open to all!  \nYou will learn rhythms (if drumming) and movement (if dancing) that will take us through the entire Procession. You will be part of one of Tucson’s largest community events\, viewed by thousands of people. \nSOL AXÉ is a project under the organization that creates the All Souls Procession\, MANY MOUTHS\, ONE STOMACH. DESCRIPTION:Featuring The Privy Tippers with Claire Zucker calling. \nInspired by Dia de los Muertos and Tucson’s own All Souls Procession\, Tucson Friends of Traditional Music is featuring their 2nd Annual All Souls Contradance. This will be a contradance just as any other\, so if you just want to come and dance\, great. However we would like to invite you to use this dance as an opportunity to celebrate the lives of your loved ones who have passed. You can participate in whatever way suits you: wear costume\, pin a picture of a loved one on yourself\, bring a photo or object to place on the altar. \nWe’ll provide an urn for your mementos\, prayers\, messages\, and remembrances. These will be added to the Urn at the All Souls Procession where\, at the Finale\, the Urn is burned\, and our collective hopes\, prayers\, love\, grief\, memories\, tributes\, and remembrances are consumed by the flames dissolving into the ether. \nMany regard contradance as a joyful celebration of life. It lifts our spirits\, vitalizes our bodies and nourishes our need for connection. On this evening we expand this celebration to include those who are gone but still with us. \nDay of the Dead is one of the oldest of holiday celebrations dating back to Pre-Columbian times. It is a time when family and friends who have died are recognized as a vital and powerful part of life and the line between the dead and the living grows thinner. People gather in homes and in cemeteries with the souls of their beloved dead to feast and pray and appreciate the blessings of friends and family and community! \nWe will gather on the dance floor and remember those who have gone before us.  Do it in your own way or so that everyone can see. \nProceeds support the All Souls Procession. (Special $5 admission for anyone under 25 years old!)
