Ushers escort the Procession and are a critical part of our collective self-responsibility for this event. They help to make sure floats and musical groups are distributed appropriately in the Procession. And they keep in touch via radio app to update on the status of parts of the Procession. Available to answer questions for people in the street. It’s a great way to serve your community and help people get more engaged with the Procession!
Basic guidelines for what to wear (color scheme, Usher sash), but no costuming requirements–though you are welcome to costume with the Ambassadors if you want to!
Requires a lot of walking and standing.
IMPORTANT: Please fill out the volunteer form so we know you are interested.
Ushers must attend sessions listed below.
All members of the Community Spirit Group gather together day-of the Procession to prep, help each other with costumes and makeup, eat, and prepare ourselves for the work ahead. We don’t yet know where that home base is this year, but wherever it is, Attendants, Ambassadors, Ushers, and Hungry Ghosts will all be there! Expect that the Ambassadors will gather starting as early as 11 AM, and Ushers as early as 1 PM — and then of course go until the end of the Finale at about 10 PM.
